  • Review Sounds (Group 1 & 2): s, a, t, i, p, n, c, k, ck, e, h, r, m, d

  • New Sounds (Group 3): g, o, u, l (ll), f (ff), b, j, z, w, v, y, x, ng, ch, sh, th (sound TH)

Advanced Phonics Skills:

  • Consonant Blends: bl, cl, st, gr, tr, sp, etc.

  • Word Families: -at, -an, -ig, -op, -est, and more

  • Digraphs and Vowel Teams: ai, oa, ee, ie, or, oo, qu, ou, oi, ue, er

Magic ‘E’ Rules:

  • Learn silent ‘e’ for long vowel sounds
    Examples: cake, bike, hope, tube

Common Vowel Sound Patterns:

  1. ai / ay – Examples: rain, play

  2. ee / ea / y—Examples: tree, leaf, happy

  3. ie / i-e / y—Examples: pie, time, cry

  4. oa / ow / o-e – Examples: boat, snow

  5. ue / u-e / ui – Examples: blue, cube, fruit

  6. er / ir / ur – Examples: her, bird, turn

  7. or /aw/au—Examples: fork, saw

  8. ou / ow – Examples: cloud, cow

  9. oi / oy – Examples: coin, boy

 

Tricky Words Mastery

  • Lists 1–6: Common sight words (e.g., the, said, come, here)

  • Lists 7–8: Advanced tricky words for confident reading

  • Focus: Recognition, writing, and using tricky words in context

 

Word Structure Awareness

  • CVC: cat, pen, dog

  • CVCC: milk, jump, hand

  • CCVC/CCVCC (optional exposure): frog, clap, stamp
